New Market Manager Hired
We are very excited to welcome our new market manager Duane Marcus.
He seems to be much more qualified to run the market than we are so we expect great things from him.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
• Organic Gardener for 35 years
• Currently farming 3 acres in suburban Atlanta and selling produce to local customers
• Experienced in using the soil food web to cycle nutrients through composting, vermiculture and actively aerated compost tea
• Experienced in diversified farm revenue streams including fruits, herbs, flowers and mushroom production
• Started the first garden center and landscape design business in metro Atlanta promoting sustainable and organic gardening inputs and methods
• Worked extensively with individuals and companies designing and building edible and ornamental gardens – Designed and built a rooftop garden incorporating a raised bed vegetable garden and a rainwater harvesting system for Oakland Park, a Leed Certified Condominium project in Grant Park
• Co-founded and managed Urban Gardener Oasis Community Garden in Grant Park
• Involved with many local organizations working on sustainable agriculture
• Published articles in Atlanta Intown newspaper and Atlanta Magazine on organic gardening techniques. Currently writing a 3 part series on growing food organically at home for Sevananda’s Co-Options newspaper
